Three other historic accommodations can be found in one location at the Biltmore Estate property.

The Village Hotel on Biltmore Estate is a casual accommodation set next to the estate winery with dining, shopping, and outdoor activities, while The Inn on Biltmore Estate offers four-star elegance and personalized service for a complete escape in Asheville. The Cottage on Biltmore Estate is a luxury historic estate cottage offering personalized service for a truly unique experience of the estate.

For more of a “do-it-yourself” stay, Asheville offers a wide range of suites and apartments, hostels, camping and “glamping” options, and private accommodations (AirBnB, HomeAway and others).

One of the best of the latter in town is Sunshine’s Dream.

Located in the fabulous and trendy West Asheville neighborhood, Sunshine’s Dream invites guests to “Come and live like a local” in their newly constructed, modern 500 square foot studio apartment situated right off Haywood Road and within walking distance of a bevy of neighborhood spots including ethnic restaurants, art galleries, clothing boutiques, bookstores, live music and more.

With a private entry at the rear of the home the apartment is decorated with a modern design and amenities, and includes all new furniture and appliances, a comfortable new queen-size bed with organic cotton sheets, a pullout futon couch, a full bathroom with a beautiful stand-in shower, and in the fully stocked kitchen accented with beautiful hand selected and stained walnut shelves has a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender and every utensil, plates and glassware platters (designer, not just department store issue), etc. you could possibly need during your stay.

It’s obvious from the moment you cross the threshold that the owners put a lot of thought, effort and love into this space to make it not only comfortable, but warm and welcoming.

In addition to the expressive paint colors and design, and breathtaking stone and tile accents in the kitchen and bathroom, they included thoughtful touches like beautiful locally blown glass light fixtures and decorative bowls, and art by several North Carolina artists, a mini-split AC/heat unit for comfort control, radiant heat in the floors, a Bluetooth sound bar and 40" Roku TV, a USB charging station for up to eight devices, and maps and brochures of some of the local places and attractions.

As stunning and comfortable the inside space is, the pièce de résistance here just might be the private patio with a beautiful wrought iron and stone inlaid table, relaxation chairs, overhead lights that can be set to change color while outdoors, and the expansive backyard garden space.

Set on a rolling landscape peppered with verdant shrubbery all around, the backyard features a treehouse, lawn games, an amazing fire pit area surrounded by rock walls and lush bamboo, folding chairs, and a “secret bridge” crossing a small stream and leading to the neighborhood behind for a short stroll to the Hayward shops and amenities.

A stay here is like being in the woods, but within steps of all the West Asheville neighborhood has to offer and only a five-minute drive from downtown. Sunshine’s Dream is, really like a dream, and a fantastic Asheville accommodation option.
