There are many ways to transform your lifestyle into a more sustainably, eco-friendly environment: through your cleaning products, clothing, bath and body items, cooking utensils … the list is almost endless. But when you travel on the road full-time without a set home (and not in an RV), it can be a little challenging.
So I’m always looking for sustainable, eco-friendly products that not only help leave a smaller environmental footprint, but that also don’t take up too much space in my travel gear.
A few months ago I was excited to find two products that would both make my on-the-road life easier and healthier and satisfy my desire to help support the environment.
Buzzee Reusable Foodwraps
The first is the Harvest Buzzee Reusable Foodwraps, an excellent alternative to traditional plastic storage bags.
Made of all-natural tropical bee’s wax, organic virgin coconut oil, Himalayan pine rosin, organic citrus essential oils and an organic printed cotton fabric that is Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified, the package includes 1 large, 2 medium, and 1 small wrap.
Each can be used to wrap for anything from sandwiches to baked goods, raw vegetables, fruits, cheese and more, either individually or as a cover over a bowl or other container – and for up to 200 uses. Just warm the wraps with heat from your hands, and you’re good to go!
One of my favorite things to do in every city I visit is to patronize the local farmer’s market. So the Vejibag definitely comes in handy.
The company, recognizing that when picked vegetables continue to thrive in a moist cool damp environment, designed these undyed, unbleached bags made with the finest U.S. grown and milled organic cotton French terry knit.
When damp, the cloth Vejibag turns into a high humidity yet breathable environment that keeps greens and vegetables fresh and crisp in the fridge for at least two weeks! That’s much longer than in a traditional storage bag, and, again, in an eco-friendly manner.
In addition to purchasing the Buzzee Reusable Foodwraps and Vejibag directly from their websites, you can also find them on The Grommet, a site designed to bring together a wide array of small businesses and independent makers that create unique, innovative, products. On the site you’ll find everything from household goods to clothing, tech & gadgets, health & beauty, camping and outdoors, items for your pets, and a great deal more.
