Happy birthday to me!
I've always wanted to come to Asheville, NC because I'd heard what an amazing city it is, and so far those who said it are right!
This morning I went on a No Taste Like Home 3-hr wild foraging tour way up in the mountains, off the grid, in this beautiful community where they source all of their food off the forest landscape and do community work and sharing.
We learned how to find edibles scattered throughout the forest with the primary focus on mushrooms.
The people in the group were a lovely eclectic mix from Baltimore, Prescott, AZ, Brooklyn, the Outer Banks, and Charlotte. And the tour leader was originally from Kansas City! One of the ladies on the tour works in the MBA program for a University business school in Maryland and invited me to come speak and bought one of my books!
After I got back to the Airbnb I took my mushroom bounty and made a sumptuous lunch to eat outside in the backyard.
Tonight, it's a vegan restaurant that I've written about before but can't wait to visit for dinner.
Age 55 looks great on me!
Later that evening…
Best birthday ever!
I just got back from an amazing vegan dinner at Plant and now I'm in the backyard under the bamboo and other trees, with a roaring fire, listening to the birds, the crickets, and the cicadas.
Life is so good and I'm so glad that I'm still around to enjoy it.
Age 55 is kicking off with a bang and there's nowhere to go but up! And I am so grateful for all that I am, all that I have, all that I give, and all that I received.
And so it is. Amen.
