Virtual Thanks to Unity of Tucson!

Well, today was a first – presenting a Sunday lesson online because of the shelter-in-place guidelines in response to the global pandemic.

Who knew only six months ago when I was asked to speak at Unity of Tucson that life would have been turned on its ear in such a way!

Nevertheless, this unprecedented time in our world certainly gives those of us in New Thought communities another opportunity to really practice our spiritual practice and remain firm in knowing the Truth:

Everything is in Divine Order

If you’ve never been to Unity of Tucson, it is gorgeous! I visited twice last year and fell in love with it the moment I stepped onto the property.

Located in the Northeast foothills of the Catalina Mountains, the campus encompasses a very large Sanctuary, Harmony Hall, outdoor Ramada, and a beautiful Annex building for meetings, workshops, and special events.

They also have a beautiful labyrinth and contemplative meditation path set in front of the backdrop of the beautiful desert environment.

Today is Mother’s Day and my lesson was called, “Awakening and Honoring the Divine Feminine (and Masculine) in YOU!” In it I talked about how Mother’s Day is a wonderful time of year to honor our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, and other special women in our lives.

But it can also be significant for another reason, and that’s because it presents a wonderful opportunity to awaken and honor our Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine energies.

It’s not about whether or not you have given birth to or raised children. And it also has nothing to do with identifying yourself as a female or a male, or how our society and cultures define what makes someone a woman or a man.

It’s about finding a balance between these two powerful energies in our mind, body, and spirit.

As humans, we all carry both Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine energies. And what we know in New Thought spiritual communities like Unity of Tucson, is that honoring the Divine in ourselves, also honors it in God, Spirit, whatever you call your guiding presence.

Afterwards, I facilitated a workshop entitled, “It’s Never too Late to REWRITE our Childhood Stories” designed to help attendees separate the facts of what happened in our lives, from our interpretations of what happened in our lives, in order to make conscious choices about whether or not those stories are still serving us, and to help us chart a new conscious path for the future.

It was a wonderful, spirit-led morning and I can still feel the energy from those who joined in - even across the miles! For those of you who weren’t able to attend, you can enjoy the entire Sunday Service on the church’s YouTube channel.

Thank you again, Unity of Tucson!
